About Us
Run by students, the $tart $mart Program is one of seven programs run by SIFE Ryerson. At the 2009 ACE National Exposition the $tart $mart Program was awarded 1st Place out of over 40 SIFE teams and was recognized as the best financial literacy program run by a SIFE team in Canada.
$tart $mart positively influences the lives and financial decision making of those we work with by delivering customized education programs through our newly developed comprehensive model. This scalable program uses an award winning model and a step by step process to create customized education plans that cater to the specific needs to those most in need of financial literacy. The $tart $mart Program positively impacts the lives of students, at-risk youth, and women.
Why Financial Literacy?
Financial literacy is a critical life skill and it is evident that there is a lack of basic financial literacy training in elementary schools, high schools and University. The need for financial education for audiences from children to seniors to small business owners has become more important than ever before.
Our purpose is to empower people to realize true financial independence. We know it won’t happen over-night, but with the Start Smart Program we aim to lay the foundation for such to happen.
A very popular saying is “You can show someone the door, but you can’t make them walk through it.”
We’re here to show you the door, and provide you with enough incentive to actually walk through it to take a glimpse at what’s on the other side.
