Biographical Sketch

Sean Wise is a Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University, where he teaches entrepreneurial perspectives to both MBAs and undergrads. He is a PhD student at the University of Glasgow; studying collective business intelligence through collaborative online information networks in the department founded by one of his heroes, the father of modern economics, Adam Smith. Prof. Wise’s current research includes a collaboration with research scientists fromMIT’s Center for Collective Intelligence.

Sean Wise brings experience and expertise to the Ted Rogers School of Management. Before receiving his Law and MBA degrees at the University of Ottawa, Wise studied Engineering and Economics at Carleton University. For the past 8 years, Wise has lectured at over 125 bootcamps, financing forums and industry conferences. He is dedicated to training entrepreneurs and has succeeded in training more than 3000 people who have collectively raised more than $2.1 billion from different investment sources.

Wise also has a monthly published column in the Globe and Mail, entitled “Wise Words,” which was recently published as a “Best of” collection, entitledWise Words: Lessons in Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital, Vol 1. His second book,How to be a Business Superhero, came out in the Fall of 2008.

Prof. Wise is the online host and industry advisor for CBC’s business reality show, Dragons’ Den. He is also the founder of VenCorps.com, which is attempting to revolutionize the business of seed investing in much the same way Wikipedia revolutionized the encyclopaedia industry.
