FIN 510 Entrepreneurial Finance
“I feel that all entrepreneurship majors should take this course because if they do not understand the elements of a contract when obtaining financing it could potentially cost them, millions of dollars.” This course focuses on the unique financial issues of start-up entrepreneurial firms. Professor Anderson shares his experiences as a lawyer when communicating to the class the importance of the contract between entrepreneurs and venture capitalists. He explains that an entrepreneur’s wealth is a function of the value of the firm and the contract in which it is financed. Students will learn how to value a firm and the specific elements to look for in a fair contract. Also they will learn financial planning from the start-up financing stage until the exit. This is a critical course for any student planning on starting their own business.
